DJ Neil Armstrong…

We got an email this morning from world famous mixtape king, DJ Neil Armstrong with him giving us a shout out on his hypebeast website.  It’s always great to have someone you look up to and respect like Frank The Butcher and Neil Armstrong giving you props on what you spend long days and late nights working on.  Real recognize Real!  Thanks for the love fellas.  And be sure to reread Neil’s 11 Questions we did with him awhile back.  Keep supporting the old school and the Manifest brand.

Well they talked us into it, although that wasn’t too hard when they mentioned we would be in the old school hip hop Wax Poetics issue #41 (out on newsstands now).  Scroll through the pages and you will find the Manifest ad showing some of the new Spring/ Summer collection that you have to have.  So do yourself a favor and run out and grab this issue and learn some things about the good ol’ days of hip hop and then click the shop section on the Manifest site and get your summer gear on.

Artist(s) Shout Out…

For the past couple of seasons I’ve asked a guest artist to work up a graphic for the Manifest brand.  I normally do all the graphics but sometimes you’ve got to reach out to the best for that certain “look”.  This season I reached out to two artists that i’ve been diggin for some time and was really jazzed they both jumped at the chance to make something happen.

First up is a somewhat local guy based out of Charlotte N.C. and goes by the name Zach Shuta.  I first learned of his work through my main man Radar a year or so ago.  I’ve been following Zach’s work for awhile and saw he had such a great style and already had an early version of the Ghost graphic.  We added a few things to it and got it just right i think.  Ghost would be proud!  Be sure to check out Zach’s website for more and see the work he’s done for Danny Boy, adidas, Tony Hawk, etc etc.  A very talented and all around great family man!

Up next is another great artist coming straight outta Philly.  Adam Garcia is another artist and designer i’ve been a fan of for some time and was really jazzed he took the time to knock out a couple of graphics for the new Fa/Ho Manifest collection.  The Raising Hell graphic was one i’d been sketching for a few seasons but knew Adam could make it just right with his hand lettering skills.  The World Wide Sound System graphic is another idea that’s been floating around my sketchbook for some time but never found a home for it until now.  Both graphics turned out just like i saw them in my head and that’s always a good thing! Check out Adam’s website to see what he’s been working on lately. Some of his past work includes being the art director at Rhymesayers Entertainment as well as banging out graphics and posters for all your favorite independent bands, brands and everyone else who needs great design.

Also please take note that two designs in this season were done by DJ/ super designer Mike Davis.  Yes this Mike Davis.  He worked his magic on the Gold and a Pager and the State of Mind shirts.  It’s such a good feeling when you can give an artist a thought in your head and they bring it too life with their distinct style.  Thanks Mike.
